In Pennsylvania, vehicles must be inspected within 10 days of registration and then annually thereafter. The inspection sticker shows the month and year the inspection expires. You'll need a new inspection if you're registering a vehicle from another state or if the previous inspection has expired.

PA state inspection fees vary based on vehicle type (passenger car, motorcycle, commercial vehicle, etc.). Safety inspections typically range from $5-$20, and emissions testing adds additional cost. Give us a call for specific pricing on your vehicle. If repairs are needed to pass, those costs are separate.
If your vehicle doesn't pass inspection, we'll provide a detailed inspection report showing exactly what needs to be fixed. You have 90 days to make the repairs and return for a free re-inspection on the failed items. As a full-service auto shop, we can handle all the repairs right here at competitive prices.
Most gasoline-powered vehicles 5 years old and newer in Pennsylvania require emissions testing (except in some rural counties). Diesel vehicles 8 years old and newer also require testing. Electric vehicles and motorcycles are exempt. New vehicles are exempt for the first 3 years from the model year designation.
If your check engine light is on and illuminated continuously (not blinking), your vehicle will likely fail the emissions portion of the inspection. We can diagnose the issue and get it fixed before your inspection. A blinking check engine light indicates a serious problem — please call us immediately if that's the case.
